July 15, 2010 Dear Cosby Show Choir Members and Parents, Congratulations on joining show choir at Cosby High School! We’ve had an incredible four years, and we are proud of all of the awards and accolades both Rhapsody and Spotlight have been given locally and nationally in their first years of existence. Both show choirs have received distinguished honors including numerous placement trophies and grand champion as well as awards for best vocal quality, best choreography, best band, and best show design! This has all been accomplished through a combination of teamwork, talent, and positive attitude. Show choir is a team effort, and we are strong only if we are united by camaraderie and common goals. It has taken a great deal of hard work, passion, and positive attitude to build our strong reputation of success and sportsmanship. I cannot wait to continue that tradition of achievement with you this year. As promised, we will begin our show choir workshops in August with our award-winning choreographer, Jason Peace. In order to be placed in the show, you will need to attend the workshop days for your group. These days will be dedicated to discovering what your set will be for the 2010-11 competition season, participating in team building activities, and learning the first part of choreography for your shows. Dance captains will also begin auditions during this time. All students will need to bring snacks, a meal for dinner, and lots of water to stay hydrated during rehearsals. SPOTLIGHT will be working on Monday, August 23 and Tuesday, August 24 and RHAPSODY will be on Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27. We will meet every day from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the chorus room. All students are expected to be prompt and attentive during rehearsals. We only have a limited amount of time with our choreographer, and it is crucial that we make every moment count. If you are involved in other Cosby team activities (including marching band) please come to rehearsal as soon as your other activity has ended. This excuse of absence only includes Cosby activities and does not include extracurricular jobs. Please ask to be excused from work in advance. If you have any questions, please contact me at Heather_Andre@ccpsnet.net, and continue to check our website www.cosbychorus.net for any changes or updates. I look forward to working with you this year, and I can’t wait to get started!! Sincerely, Heather Andre Choral Director Cosby High School

Our Mission The objective of the choral program is to enable students to enjoy the thrill of performing while receiving a well-rounded choral education. Cosby High School is proud to offer courses to students of all levels of experience, ability and showmanship.
A Note from Mrs. Andre and Mrs. Kim Congratulations on joining the Cosby High School Choral Department! By joining a chorus class, you will now have the opportunity to learn and experience the excitement of singing in a choral setting. As a student, you are an incredibly valuable member of the department. Everyone has the opportunity to make an impact on not only the sound, but also the success of each choir. To be in a choir is to join a team of people using their natural talents to reach a goal of expressing and performing music. In order to have a successful team, each member must put forth equal effort to reach the goals of the group. Therefore, each student is expected to be active, intelligent, and to contribute in class. This year, we will continue to create the foundation for a long-standing tradition of excellence in the Cosby Choral Department. We must all work together to establish a high standard of musicianship, academic, and choral excellence. We look forward to working with you and sharing the pleasure and fulfillment of creating and performing music together.
